Micah Ryals - Regional & National Coach of the Year

It is without a doubt that Toccoa Falls College Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Micah Ryals, has made a name for himself within the past 3 years of taking over the program. Coach Ryals has proven himself to be a top coach in the NCCAA community, and he continues to work day in and day out to make his program elite.

Most notably, in the 2022-2023 season, Coach Ryal’s led his program to an impressive 20-7 record, a region tournament runner up recognition, and an NCCAA National Tournament appearance. On top of this, four of his players received regional and national recognition. Junior Jaliyah Howard received First Team All-Region as well as First Team All-American awards. Freshman Kenya Robinson received First Team All-Region, Freshman of the Year, and All-Freshman Team recognitions. Junior Sarah Holland received Second Team All-Region recognition, and freshman Jyesha Butts received All-Freshman Team honors.

His passion and success of the 2022-2023 season did not go unnoticed, as Coach Micah Ryals received NCCAA D1-South Region Coach of the Year, as well as NCCAA National Coach of the Year. Coach Ryals earned these prestigious honors by fueling a desire to win within his players through the relationships he has built with them. One of his players, Sarah Holland said that Coach Ryals “gives a lot of credit to the team for him winning the region and national coach of the year, but I think he needs to take more of the credit than he does.” This statement embodies the type of coach he is, as he continuously puts his players above himself and recognizes their hard work over his own.

Athletic Director Josh Taylor added on to all that Coach Ryals has attributed to this program by stating, “Coach Ryals is very diligent with his work and works countless hours studying film and teaching on and off the court. Winning coach of the year is a great honor, but it is clear he has done all the work to get there. He has shown so much courage to build the foundation by bringing excitement into this program and teaching his players life lessons that go on and off the court.”

Toccoa Falls College is proud to have Coach Ryals leading the women’s basketball team and is ecstatic to see all that he continues to do for this program. His hard work does not go unnoticed, and he has been a staple in turning TFC athletics around.
