Apr 1, 2026

Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles showed a ton of fight and resilience in their 12–10 win over Brevard College on Tuesday, using big-time hitting and clutch moments to come out on top in a high-scoring battle.

The biggest standout was Cole Smith, who had an incredible game at the plate. He drove in five runs on three hits, including a two-run double, a sacrifice fly, a solo home run, and an RBI single. Every time Toccoa needed a big play, Smith stepped up and delivered.

Offensively, the Screaming Eagles were strong all game, finishing with 13 hits. Will Miller and Smith both had three-hit performances, while Conner Merritt and Peyton Powell added multiple hits as well. The lineup stayed aggressive and consistent, constantly putting pressure on Brevard’s defense.

One of the most impressive parts of the game was Toccoa’s response after falling behind. After Brevard scored eight runs in the fifth inning to take a 10–6 lead, the Screaming Eagles didn’t panic. Instead, they answered right back in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game through smart at-bats, including a hit-by-pitch, an error, an RBI single from Ryan McCarron, and a sacrifice fly from Bryant Rushing.

Toccoa also dominated on the base paths, stealing five bases and creating extra scoring opportunities. Their aggressiveness helped shift momentum and keep Brevard on their heels throughout the game.

On the mound, the bullpen was outstanding. After the early innings, Hunter Tatum, Jacob Chupp, Ethan Strength, Shelton Ramey, and Josh Ramey combined for scoreless relief, shutting down Brevard when it mattered most and giving the offense a chance to complete the comeback.

Overall, this was a complete team win for the Screaming Eagles. From clutch hitting and aggressive baserunning to lockdown relief pitching and solid defense, Toccoa Falls proved they can handle adversity and finish strong.
