The Women's Soccer team hosted Bob Jones University this past weekend. The game was a special game regardless of the turnout because it was the homecoming game. The Screaming Eagles got to play in front of a huge crowd. The crowd brought great encouraging energy to the game. This still wasn't enough to pull off the win for the Screaming Eagles, the Bruins took the win 5-1.
The first half of the game the Screaming Eagles had a very hard time facing the Bruins defense. The Screaming Eagles were not able to score in the first half of the game. The Bruins did a great job of communicating with each other and were able to steal the ball away from the Screaming Eagles. The Bruins were able to score their first two goals in the first half of the game.
In the second part of the game, Brooke Loggins (FR/Clarkesville, Georgia) scored the only point for the Screaming Eagles. The Bruins offense was stronger than the Screaming Eagles defense and they were able to score 3 more goals. The goalkeeper Emily Truelove (SR/Gainesville, GA) did do a great job defending the goal, she had 15 saves for the night.
Head Coach Kaelyn Watson had this to say about the game, "I am proud of the way our team fought back in this game. Being down 2-0 at the half can be discouraging, but the girls were able to execute well in the second half and cut into the lead. Unfortunately, we couldn't get any more goals before BJU was able to pull away. Bob Jones is a great team that plays a disciplined game. We are looking forward to playing them again"!
The Women's Soccer team look forward to facing Columbia International University at their next home game October 10 at 5 pm.
