Toccoa, GA.- The Women's volleyball team hosted Trinity Baptist College and Wesleyan College in a tri-match this past weekend. The Screaming Eagles played great Saturday afternoon, they were able to defeat both teams. The Screaming Eagles are currently ranked #3 in Dll Women's Volleyball top 10! The Lady Screaming Eagles will continue working hard and moving up on the list. Head Coach Selina Slate is leading her team to victory this season.
In the first match, the Screaming Eagles faced Trinity Baptist College. The Women's Volleyball team played an awesome game. In the first set of the match, the Lady Screaming Eagles were able to play without error keeping TBC from gaining any points. In the first 13 minutes of the match, the score was 17-0. Trinity Baptist College had a difficult time receiving the ball from the Screaming Eagles and was unable to create a play. TBC was only able to gain one point for the first set, resulting in the final score being 25-1.
The Screaming Eagles started the second set off even stronger and were able to create a lead. Trinity Baptist College was able to gain more points in the second set due to simple errors from the Screaming Eagles. After gaining points, Trinity Baptist College energy level raised and they gained momentum and were able to get to score closer and closer with each play. The Screaming Eagles weren't going to give up their win and pushed even harder, the ending score was 25-14. Katie Hall (JR/Flowery Branch, GA) played great offense totaling with 9 kills just for the first match.
The third set was the most challenging of the 3 for the Screaming Eagles because this set was the strongest set for TBC. TBC was able to run plays and play well offense. The Screaming Eagles made simple errors giving free points to Trinity Baptist College. Once the Screaming Eagles were able to calm down they were able to pull off the win, the final set score was 25-17.
The last match that the Screaming Eagles played was against Wesleyan College. This was yet another great match for the Lady Screaming Eagles. In the first set of the match, the Screaming Eagles were able to control errors and maintain the lead. The Screaming Eagles really played like a team and did a great job communicating with each other. The final score of the first was 25-5.
In the second and third sets of the match, the wolves played stronger, giving the Screaming Eagles more of a challenge. The Screaming Eagles defense was able to handle anything that the wolves sent over. Offensively the Screaming Eagles played great. The player with the most kills during the match was Halle Rainwater (FR/Kennesaw, GA) totaling with 9 kills.
The tri-match ended up being a great success for the Screaming Eagles, with winning both matches, and all sets.
The Screaming Eagles look forward to their next home against Agnes Scott September 19, at 7 PM.
