Jacksonville, FL- The Women's Soccer team traveled to Jacksonville, FL. to face Trinity Baptist College. This was the first region game of the season. It was a hard loss for the Screaming Eagles, but they look forward to improving throughout the season.
Trinity was able to mount a 2-0 lead in the first half showing a lot of speed up top and challenging the Screaming Eagles defense. The Screaming Eagles came out of the second half pushing to score. Cora Gowens (FR/Loganville, GA) recorded her first career goal early in the second half to cut the TBC lead in half. While the Screaming Eagles were pushing high, Trinity Baptist continued pushing offensively, proving to be too much as they were able to put three more goals in the back of the net before the half was over. The final score was the game was 1-5.
Head Coach Kaelyn Watson stated, "This was a tough region opponent for us to play. We were missing several key players, but I am proud of how the team never quit on the field and continued working hard."
The Screaming Eagles look forward to improving at their next home game September 19, at 6 PM, against Southern Wesleyan College.
