Toccoa, GA.- The Women's Volleyball team played against Pensacola Christian College. The Screaming Eagles have faced Pensacola twice this season and defeated them both times. The Screaming Eagles are starting off the season right with being 2-0 in region wins.
In the first set, the Screaming Eagles and Pensacola had a back and forth affair, but once the Screaming Eagles started to gain momentum they were unstoppable. The Screaming Eagles played great defense and chased down every ball. Talia Hatch (SO/Laceyville, PA) played with a lot of heart and played great defensively totaling with 7 digs for the first set. The set winning point came from Natalie Thompson (FR/Clarkesville, GA) with a set to Pensacola. Pensacola was unable to dig the ball resulting in the final score being 25-20.
The second set starts off good for the Screaming Eagles due to Pensacola missing their serve. The set became harder for the Screaming Eagles, Pensacola was covering the court well. The Screaming Eagles kept making simple errors allowing Pensacola to catch up. The set became very intense with every point scored. The set became tied 23 all, but the Screaming Eagles proved to have more fight winning the set 25-23.
The final set was much stronger for the Screaming Eagles because Pensacola had a difficult time passing the ball and creating a play. Towards the middle of the set, the Screaming Eagles had a difficult time with defense and Pensacola was able to catch up. Once the Screaming Eagles were able to calm down, they were able to play much stronger winning the set 25-19.
The Women's Volleyball team looks forward to facing Truett-McConnell College September 14, at 6:30 PM.
