Toccoa Falls, Georgia—The Screaming Eagles Volleyball Team hosted a Tri-Match on Saturday against Pensacola Christian College and Johnson and Wales University. These two matches were the first two games of the season for the team, and proved to be the first two wins of the year. With two wins under their belt, the TFC Volleyball team is poised for a strong season against both regional and non-regional teams.
Head Coach Selina Slate enters her 23rd season with a roster mixed with strong returners and a host of talented freshman. Coach Slate was very pleased with her team's performance on Saturday, stating, "Winning both matches this weekend was an amazing way to start the season! The fan support was great! Both Coach Brock and I have been lookng forward to seeing what this team can do and they definitely showed us on Saturday. One of our goals this season is to play united as one and to glorify God while doing it. We are so proud of these ladies and how they played this weekend and we can't wait for the rest of the season!"
In the first match against Pensacola Christian College, the Screaming Eagles came out strong with a first set win, and never looked back. The Screaming Eagles won the match in three sets, with the scores of 32-30, 25-16, and 25-23. The first and third set were back and forth affairs, but the Screaming Eagles were able to overcome each time Pensacola made a run in order to stay on top.
After a decisive victory, the Screaming Eagles took on Johnson and Wales University in a non-region matchup. The Screaming Eagles showed no signs of growing weary, as they were able to win the match in four sets. The scores of each set were 27-25, 25-19, 23-25, and 25-22.
The Screaming Eagles look to continue winning as they travel to Greenville, SC to participate in the Bob Jones University Tournament. The tournament will take place September 1st and 2nd.
